Challenges faced
Information technology has become an integral part of the energy industry and has introduced new career paths such as data analyst, automation engineer, and data scientist. It is HR’s job to adjust to this new reality, bringing in or developing talent to support technological progress.
Guided by these considerations, HanseWerk wanted to optimize both its recruiting and talent development strategies. We defined two main challenges:
- Improving job profiles to reflect the market. This will attract better talent and guide the existing workforce toward future job requirements.
- Utilizing competitor benchmarks to analyze the labor market and future orientation of the energy industry.
Project approach
- Define the target group: Together with HanseWerk, we defined that our analysis would be targeted toward industry competitors and other major market players.
- Data analytics and evaluation: To perform competitor benchmarking, we gathered data from relevant career websites and significant job portals. We captured all published job openings for the defined market players. AI algorithms supported the recognition of future trends relevant to the energy industry. We analyzed the macroeconomic data, providing information about the target group’s job and skill demands, as well as their overall organizational directions.
- Insights and recommendations: Based on the analysis results, we outlined where and how HanseWerk’s recruiting and talent development strategies could be optimized.
